I heard you calling, setting fire to my soul; is this the voice I die for? ROYAL GUARD AIR SLIGHT 5'2” | NAME: BRYNNE SALVATORE AGE: THIRTEEN RACE: SHEIKAH As one of the few surviving Sheikah, Brynne was raised quite meticulously by her protective and exceptionally secretive parents. Still, as much as the head of the Salvatore family, Markus, wanted to remain in complete isolation, the war that had erupted not long after his daughter's birth prompted a change. While it would likely be very possible that Markus and his wife, Aria, would be able to elude the worst of the war on their own, they were not willing to make a gamble on Brynne's life. Not only was she their only child, she was a Sheikah; with the race teetering on the edge of extinction, every Sheikah life was precious. So, in a quiet end to the Salvatore family's self-exile, a deal was struck with the Hyrulean royal family; in exchange for sheltering them, Brynne would be made a lifetime guard of the newborn royal, and Markus would offer his support for the duration of the war. Brynne was too young to remember much of this, but she did remember her upbringing. Despite being raised in and around the palace by, primarily, her mother, they were hardly public figures. In fact, especially during the war, Aria made every effort to make her and her daughter practically invisible. As soon as she was old enough to begin her education, it began. There seemed to be a sense of urgency, with her parents preparing a lot of material in addition to what she was being taught. Most of her training was in stealth; how to move unseen and unheard, to control her breathing, and to gain access to difficult-to-reach places. It was a lot for a young Brynne to take in, but, with no friends or hobbies, she took to her studies in stealth, combat, survival, medicine, and poison fairly well. This continued until she was nine, when the only adult Sheikah even remotely in the public eye vanished, leaving Brynne with comprehensive writings and diagrams so she could continue her education on her own. They were a secretive people, but a people of their word, if nothing else. While she was alone, quite suddenly, she had many things to remember her parents. Aside from their exhaustive writings of the skills their family had accrued over the years, and a few bits of equipment, she also received letters. And, more than anything, many of the mottoes her father had drilled into her provided the basis of her current philosophy. There is no such thing as a good death. There is no such thing as too much caution. Heroes die; cowards live. Do not die without regrets; live bearing them. And, above all else – above all else – survive. Fortunately for Brynne, she would not stay in isolation forever. Despite being rather independent for her age, she was still a child, and, considering she was sworn to be a bodyguard to royalty, it was inevitable that, once she was left without parents, she spent a lot of time with the younger royal. Needless to say, it was awkward for Brynne, especially at first. Never mind the fact that this was the girl she was sworn to protect, and was actual royalty, quite simply, Brynne had never really interacted with others her own age before. Still, over the span of a few years, Brynne has grown more comfortable in her role as the princess's guardian, and over time, her friend. Property of Zaddie Pronouns he/him Timezone GMT+9 |
